Bed Rest Days; Are You a supermommy?

Good afternoon Everyone !
It's a New Year !!! Got any new plans ?
I'm busy setting up everything for my little munchkin to get here. I have approximately 6-10 weeks to go . First time mommy, so this is scary !!!

I always wonder how women have babies and get up to continue to be superwoman a week later ?!?! *Hats off* Any tips? :)
I'm planning on breast feeding and I hear there is a need for a certain diet at least two months post pregnancy.

Also, anything you might suggest? I'm having a baby shower very soon, but my registry isn't as packed as others I have seen. I may be missing daily essentials. ANY tips are appreciated.

Oh they Joy of babies !!!
Can you tell I'm nervous?

  1. Bless you. :) It IS scary getting ready to become a mama for the first time, but honestly, no one is ever prepared. You can read all the books and take all the classes and observe other people, but at the end of the day, you learn on the job. You become a super woman because you HAVE to become a super woman. :)

Breastfeeding is hard. I was determined to breastfeed my son for at least 6 months and wanted to go for a full year. In the end, I made it to 16 months! I only stopped because I got pregnant again. :) But the early days/weeks of breastfeeding are REALLY difficult. It is painful, it is tiring, it makes you thirsty and hungry, and it keeps you up at all hours. There's also the chance you'll get mastitis, which is REALLY painful, and the only thing to do for it is to KEEP BREASTFEEDING. It's the last thing you want to do, but it is the best cure.

As for a specific diet, I've never even heard of one! Obviously the baby is eating whatever you eat, so you want to get your nutrition. Drinking alcohol or caffeine should both be avoided unless you've made other arrangements (ie - bottle). But other than that, just eat regularly.

The other thing to remember is that you don't need lots of STUFF. I bought out the baby stores with toys, furniture, clothes, blankets, and every gadget that I saw advertised. Practically everything was useless and unnecessary.

I'm about to have my second son next month, and I haven't bought ANYTHING yet. The only things I plan to get are a car seat, some diapers and possibly some burp clothes. ;) We have a ton of clothes passed on to us from my brother's family, and my dad made us a cradle for the baby. So when we need something else, we'll buy it then. Don't get too caught up in all the so-called "essentials." Most of them turn out not to be essential at all!

:) Good luck and best wishes for an easy birth! :)

  2. Just giving birth will make you super mom right off the bat;) Don't stress out about doing things the "right" way, don't spend too much time googling every concern you have (or was that just me? lol), spend lots of time relaxing and enjoying baby, being able to manage your time awesomely and "do it all" will come later.

As for the baby registry, extra of everything! Sheets, swaddling blankets, onesies, diapers, etc! Anything that cuts down on your cleaning and laundry time is a must.

I know you're super excited to meet your baby but try to relax and sleep and enjoy some you time before your little one makes his/her appearance:) Congratulations!!

    1. Hahah !!! Google is my best friend :P
I get so concerned with things being Okay to do or not. Then I freak out. For example, I no longer take bubble baths and I'd LOVE to! But I can't. I just don't know how to relax sometimes.
But I sure will try :) Thanks a bunches !!!

  3. I completely agree with the other mommies! LOL! Just relax and go with the flow. I like to think of myself as a veteran mommy, with plenty more to learn...I have three aged 19, 13, 10 and they are the truest joys of my life! With child #1, I was out of the hospital in 2 days...that was the time limit back then, and at the grocery store the afternoon that I got out. Child #2 was out by the next day and at the oldest one's school for a program that afternoon. And Child #3 out by the next day and home caring for the rest of the family by the afternoon. LOL!

In my opinion the only right way to parent is to simply give all of the love and support you can give. I was not able to breastfeed my oldest, he wouldn't latch on, and I just didn't bother with the other two, but that was the decision that worked best for us. Good luck and don't stress, just enjoy that lil bundle of sweetness and that will be all that matters! Many blessings!
